Let’s pretend for a moment that you’ve done all your editing in Blender and now ready to export your mesh.

Blender FBX export (Skinned meshes)

  1. Prepare your mesh(es) for export.

  2. Select what you want to export.

  3. With your Mesh(es) AND Armature selected, go File → Export → FBX.

  4. Setup your export settings.

  5. (optional) Save your export settings by Clicking “+” sign next to “Operator Preset”

  6. When export setup is done, enter a name for your mesh and choose “Export FBX”.

Material Setup

Ding’s addon is the best tool for getting Witcher 3 meshes into Blender, for date. It doesn’t even compare with regular FBX import, as an FBX model loses few very important mesh attributes on Blender Import, that you’ll then have to manually fix (and its a pain in the ass).

However, since Ding’s Addon was built for W2Mesh → Blender → W2Mesh pipeline, and WolvenKit integration in mind, it doesn’t work as seamlessly with RedKit. To adjust for it, there are a few more extra steps we need to take.
